This workshop is worth 3 CEUs from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
We are excited to announce our latest workshop, "Understanding the Complexities of Grief and Loss".
Loss is not a "one size fits all" kind of experience. The pain of losing someone or something comes from what that loss means to you. It may mean something
different to someone else, and so they may not understand the pain that you are feeling. Imagine telling someone who has lost a beloved pet, "it was just a dog". You quickly appreciate how loss is a
subjective experience based on a person's beliefs, background, and personality.
The need for a more informed understanding of grief and loss is at the heart of this workshop. Presenter Stephanie Hittle, LPCC will examine several aspects of
this topic, including:
- Misconceptions about grief and loss
- Individual and contextual factors that affect grief
- Similarities and differences between grief and emotional disorders
- Disenfranchised and ambiguous loss
- Effective interventions for grief and loss that address individual characteristics and circumstances
We welcome anyone interested in learning more to attend. The workshop is not only for people in the mental health profession, but will benefit all who want to learn
about grief and loss. If you are currently experiencing the pain of loss, this workshop could be an important time of validation and healing.
This workshop is free and open to the public.
