Holy Yoga: Presented by Women at the Well

We are excited to announce our latest workshop offering, "Holy Yoga: Presented by Women at the Well". The workshop is free and open to the public!

Women at the Well is a local organization that uses the modality of yoga and mindfulness meditation, along with Biblical teaching, to retrain and recondition the brains of people who have experienced trauma or who may be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression or addiction issues. Armed with the latest neurological and trauma research, their goal is to empower people to receive guidance and healing by re-establishing the connection between mind, body and spirit that can be damaged through the experience of trauma and shame.

According to Rachel Tucker, one of the leaders of Women at the Well, the experience of trauma can shut off the brain's learning centers, making it difficult for people to process new information. One of the consequences of trauma is that it can become challenging for people to receive life-giving truth found in Scripture, and difficult for them to heal from the shame that so often accompanies anxiety, depression and trauma.

Workshop attendees will learn about the brain and the neurological response to trauma. Women at the Well staff will share their testimonies and how personal pain led to the development of their ministry. They will demonstrate how yoga and meditation are effective at dealing with trauma, and will guide attendees in the practice of restorative, gentle yoga poses and movements, as well as guided mindfulness and breathing exercises.
